Barangay Poblacion Ilaya
Poblacion Ilaya is an urban barangay, and one of the lowland barangays in the municipality of Dumarao, province of Capiz. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 1,959 comprising 3.96%% of the total population of Dumarao.
The barangay is the town’s business district since the LGU-managed Dumarao Public Market, big commercial establishments of essential goods and services, and bus terminal are situated within its proximity.
The barangay has an agricultural area of 52.22 hectares, 29.38% of its total land area. The major crops of the barangay are palay, corn, and vegetables. Agricultural diversification activities of the residents include backyard livestock and poultry farming.
Geo- physical Hazards
Poblacion Ilaya is exposed to 3 types of hazards: rain-induced flooding with low susceptibility levels, rain-induced landslides, and KARST Subsidence. However, the whole barangay is low-susceptible to all hazards.
Low flood susceptibility covers 63.96 hectares or 35.98% of the area, whereas, low landslide susceptibility covers the entire barangay. High subsidence susceptibility also covers the whole barangay.

Based on the 2020 Census, the age group with the highest population in Poblacion Ilaya is 15 to 19, with 184 individuals. Furthermore, the age group with the lowest population is 75 to 79, with 23 individuals.
The combined age group of individuals aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population which includes infants/babies, children, and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 26.03% (510). Individuals between the ages of 15 and 64, the economically active population, or potential workforce members, constitute 65.34% (1,280). Finally, the old dependent population consists of senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, a total of 2.65% (52).
