Barangay Agbatuan
The barangay came to be known as “Agbatuan” from “Batuan Tree”, a famous tree where its abundance can only be found in the barangay.Barangay Agbatuan was once one of the sitio of Barangay Astorga. It was under the leadership of former Barangay Chairman Amado Basiliano layout their plan to separate Sitio Agbatuan from Barangay Astorga. After a careful study, it was finally decided to pass an ordinance and resolution that Sitio Agbatuan of Barangay Astorga will become a barangay.
Agbatuan is an upland barangay in the municipality of Dumarao, province of Capiz. It has a total land area of 21.1746 square kilometers.
The barangay has an agricultural area of 12.46 hectares, 5.88% of its total land area. Major crops include palay, corn, banana, and coconut. The residents’ agricultural diversification activities include livestock and backyard native chicken farming.

Agbatuan is exposed to rain-induced landslides with 3 susceptibility levels: high, moderate, and low.
An area of 1,380.02 hectares or 65.17% of the total land area has high susceptibility. Moderately susceptible have an area of 563.88 hectares or 26.63%, while 191.48 hectares or 9.04% have low-level susceptibility.

In the 2020 Census, the household population of Agbatuan was 767 broken down into 235 households or an average of 2.89 members per household.
Population by age group
Based on the 2020 Census, the age group with the highest population in Agbatuan is 0 to 4, with 81 individuals. Furthermore, the age group with the lowest population is 75 to 79 and 80 and over, with 24 individuals.
The combined age group of individuals aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population which includes infants/babies, children, and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 28.03% (215). Individuals between the ages of 15 and 64, the economically active population or potential workforce members, constitute 63.62% (488). Finally, the old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total 3.13% (24).
