Barangay Aglanot
From the time of the Spanish occupation, sitio San Sebastian became developed. The leader at the time was a priest who was remembered as very brutal. He developed the land by planting crops and building a hacienda, later proclaiming it a town.
People used to walk everywhere, taking shortcuts to other places to find work. Under Spanish rule, there were a wide variety of crops.
During this time, many bandits were roaming about the area, many people were injured or killed during hold-ups. It came about that there were two bandit groups that were enemies. One day, one group of bandits abducted a member of the other group. They severely injured him; he was still alive when they stretched his body until it was as threadlike as an aba plant. The bandit group then left him in another place so that his bandit group would not find him. Thus, the name of the place is Aglanot, after “lanot”, the Ilonggo term for the abaca plant.
