Barangay Bayog
The name Bayog came from the big tree named “Bayog”, according to the elders. The story goes that one day, an old man cutting a big tree was approached by Spaniards and was asked for the name of the place. The old man did not understand the Spanish language, misinterpreted the question and replied “bayog”, referring to the tree he is cutting. It was from that incident the place had been called Bayog.
Barangay Bayog is a barangay in the municipality of Dumarao, in the province of Capiz. It has a total land area of 496.0 square kilometers.
The barangay has an agricultural area of 45.90 hectares, 92.54% of its total land area. Rice plantations are abundant in the barangay. Part of their agricultural diversification activities are livestock and backyard native chicken farming.
Geo- physical Hazards
Bayog is exposed to 3 types of hazards: rain-induced flooding with low susceptibility level, rain-induced landslides with low susceptibility level, and KARST Subsidence.
Susceptible to low-level flooding is 44.94 hectares or 91% of the total barangay land area.
The entire total land area of the barangay has a low susceptibility level for rain-induced landslide and susceptible to high subsidence.

Household
The household population of Bayog in the 2020 Census was 231 broken down into 56 households or an average of 4.13 members per household.
Population by age group
According to the 2020 Census, the age group with the highest population in Bayog is 0-4, with 11.26% or 26 individuals. On the other hand, the age group with the lowest population is80 and over, with 2.16% or a total of 5 individuals.
Combining age groups, those aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population which includes infants/babies, children, and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 26.84% (62). Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active population and actual or potential members of the workforce, constitute a total of 61.47% (142). Finally, the old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total 11.69% (27) in all.

The population of Bayog grew from 144 in 1990 to 231 in 2020, an increase of 87 people over the course of 30 years. The latest census figures in 2020 denote a positive growth rate of 2.44%, or an increase of 25 people, from the previous population of 206 in 2015.
