Barangay Janguslob

Sa sadto nga adlaw, sa barrio nga ini, may ara nga sapa nga ginakuhaan sang pumuluyo sang tubig nga naga-uslob-uslob lang nga naga angut sa suba. Pagkatapos sang trabaho, ang mga tawo tuman gid ang kakapoy kag husto lang ihangus ang ila kakapoy para magtawhay ang nila pagginhawa. Nag-abot ang ti-on nga matawhay na ang sitwasyon kag ang banwa sang Dumarao nagkuha na sang ngalan sang barrio, ang “Janguslob” gin-angot sa “hangus” kag “uslob”. Kag sa sina nga ti-on, gintawag na ang lugar nga JANGUSLOB.

Janguslob is a rural barangay, and one of the lowland barangays in the municipality of Dumarao, province of Capiz. It has a total land area of 3.1835 square kilometers. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 1,770. This represented 3.58% of the total population of Dumarao.

The barangay has an agricultural area of 306.75 hectares, 96.36% of its total land area. Agricultural produce are palay, sugarcane, and bamboo. Part of their agricultural diversification activities are livestock and backyard native chicken farming.

Geo- physical Hazards

Janguslob is exposed to 3 types of hazards: rain-induced flooding with low susceptibility level, rain-induced landslides with low susceptibility level, and KARST Subsidence.

Susceptible to low-level flooding is 230.90 hectares or 72.53% of the total barangay land area.

The entire barangay area has a low susceptibility level for rain-induced landslides.

Similar to landslides, the entire barangay area is susceptible to high subsidence.

Demographics

Household

The household population of Janguslob in the 2020 Census was 1,770 broken down into 450 households or an average of 3.93 members per household.

Population by age group

According to the 2020 Census, the age group with the highest population in Janguslob is 10 to 14, with 198 individuals. On the other hand, the age group with the lowest population is 75 to 79, with 11 individuals.

Combining age groups, those aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population which includes infants/babies, children, and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 31.92% (565). Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active population and actual or potential members of the workforce, constitute a total of 62.94% (1,114). Finally, the old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total 5.14% (91) in all.

The population of Janguslob grew from 1,081 in 1990 to 1,770 in 2020, an increase of 689 people over the course of 30 years. The latest census figures in 2020 denote a positive growth rate of 3.69%, or an increase of 280 people, from the previous population of 1,490 in 2015.
