Barangay Ongol Ilawod
Sang una nga panahon sang tiempo katsila, May mga katsila nga nagpalamangkutanon nga may naagyan nga duwa ka tigulang sa suba nga nagapaligo. Nagpamangkot ang mga katsila sa ila kon ano nga lugar ini diri. Tungod ang duwa ka tigulang mga bungol kag indi man makahangop sang linggwahe sang katsila, nagsabat nga nagapangita sila sang isda nga “Ungoy”. Nagsabat ang katsila, “Ah! ONGOL GALI INI!!!” (sa ila kaugalingon nga linggwahe). Kag amo sadto nga ginhilingalanan ang baryo sang Ongol. Sang ulihi nga may teniente del barrio nga nagpamuno sa isa lamang nga Ongol, sa kadakuon sang lugar kag may mga hitabo nga indi maayo sa amo nga lugar nga wala ginahatagan sang igtalupangod, gintunga ang Ongol sa duha ka bahin nga amo nangin Ongol Ilawod kag Ongol Ilaya.
Ongol Ilawod is a rural barangay, and one of the lowland barangays in the municipality of Dumarao, province of Capiz. It has a total land area of 1.3664 square kilometers.
The barangay has an agricultural area of 262.23 hectares, 89.68% of its total land area. Rice plantations are abundant in the barangay. Part of their agricultural diversification activities are livestock and backyard native chicken farming.
Geo- physical Hazards
Ongol Ilawod is exposed to 3 types of hazards: rain-induced flooding with low susceptibility levels, rain-induced landslides with 3 susceptibility levels: high, moderate, and low, and KARST Subsidence.
An area of 14.203 hectares or 10.39% of the total land area has a moderate susceptibility level for rain-induced flooding, while 122.44 hectares or 89.61% have low-level susceptibility.
The entire barangay total land area is susceptible to low-level susceptibility for rain- induced landslide and high susceptible to subsidence.

The household population of Ongol Ilawod in the 2020 Census was 548 broken down into 150 households or an average of 3.65 members per household.
Population by age group
According to the 2020 Census, the age group with the highest population in Ongol Ilawod is 0 to 4, with 50 individuals. On the otherhand, the age group with the lowest population is 80 and over, with 10 individuals.
Combining age groups together, those aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population which include infants/babies, children and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 24.27% (133). Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active population and actual or potential members of the work force, constitute a total of 65.33% (358). Finally, old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total 10.40% (57) in all.
