Barangay Salcedo
The place is formerly known to be “Maliao” even before the Spanish Regime. After the Spanish occupation, a respectable family of Amado Salcedo, Leopoldo Salcedo and Melquiades Salcedo migrated to Maliao. They have acquired a vast hectare of land and established a pasture for cows and carabao. The place was later named as Salcedo, from the family known to the community to be of good attitude and good standing.
Salcedo is a rural barangay, and one of the lowland barangays of the municipality of Dumarao, province of Capiz. It has a total land area of 4.3989 square kilometers.
The barangay has an agricultural area of 360.69 hectares, 82% of its total land area. Rice plantations are abundant in the barangay. Part of their agricultural diversification activities are livestock and backyard native chicken farming.
Geo- physical Hazards
Salcedo is exposed to 3 types of hazards: rain-induced flooding with low susceptibility levels, rain-induced landslides with 3 susceptibility levels: high, moderate, and low, and KARST Subsidence.
Susceptible to low-level flooding is 188.2 hectares or 43% of the total barangay land area.
An area of 33.11 hectares or 8% of the total land area has a high susceptibility level for rain-induced landslide, while 406.78 hectares or 92% have low-level susceptibility.
A portion of the barangay is susceptible to subsidence having an area of 357.64 hectares or 81.24% of the total barangay land area.

Household
The household population of Salcedo in the 2020 Census was 1,671 broken down into 462 households or an average of 3.62 members per household.
Population by age group
According to the 2020 Census, the age group with the highest population in Salcedo is 20 to 24, with 173 individuals. On the otherhand, the age group with the lowest population is 80 and over, with 28 individuals.
Combining age groups together, those aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent population which include infants/babies, children and young adolescents/teenagers, make up an aggregate of 25.55% (427). Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active population and actual or potential members of the work force, constitute a total of 66.85% (1,117). Finally, old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total 7.60% (127) in all.
Historical population
The population of Salcedo grew from 1,318 in 1990 to 1,671 in 2020, an increase of 353 people over the course of 30 years. The latest census figures in 2020 denote a positive growth rate of 2.54%, or an increase of 188 people, from the previous population of 1,483 in 2015.
